FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 20.09.2006
PORTLAND, Ore. and FUERTH, Germany – September 20, 2006 – Paessler, the network monitoring company, today announces the availability of PRTG Traffic Grapher 6, the latest version of the popular network monitoring and bandwidth usage solution.
The Windows®-based and Web-based user interfaces have been improved to help system administrators easily manage networks of any size, from small Local Area Networks (LANs) to large installations with thousands of sensors. Sensors can now be associated with tags, to categorize items in multiple views, similar to the tagging principles that have become popular on Web 2.0 sites. The list of sensors can then be filtered based on these tags for easy navigation even in large setups with many sensors.
Sets of sensors can be saved into device templates to create the same set of sensors for another device. Also new in this version is an Event Manager, which keeps track of events such as error messages and notifications for each sensor. A latency sensor that uses PINGs to monitor the network latency of a device or a data line has been included to help network managers to find overloaded network devices which usually show high variations of latency readings.
Dirk Paessler, president of Paessler AG notes “We started our company to make software that people like us – network managers and IT administrators – could use to make their jobs easier. Today our customers take an important part in this effort by us giving their valuable feedback. PRTG version six includes many of the most popular feature requests from our users.”
Other improvements include the ability to pause sensors and notifications based on day-of-week and hour-of-day and an improved reporting engine with many new features and new export formats. The improved Packet Sniffer now supports 32bit as well as 64bit operating systems.
PRTG Traffic Grapher is an easy to use Windows software solution for monitoring and classifying bandwidth usage. It provides system administrators with live readings and long-term usage trends of their network devices.
PRTG Traffic Grapher can be purchased through the Paessler online store at http://www.paessler.com/order/prtgstarting at $99.95 for the professional edition with a 25 sensor license. A freeware edition with 3 sensors, suitable for SOHOs and private use, is also available.
