It can become quite complicated to determine which Cisco devices support Netflow Export and in what version. PRTG Traffic Grapher currently only supports NetFlow V5.
Hardware based switches like the 4000/4500 and 6000/6500 series perform the processing of data packets inside their hardware ASICs and can only export NetFlow if this feature is built into their hardware, which is the case only for the top-notch supervisor cards and may even require the additional netflow card.
Here are a few particular characteristics:
Catalyst 4k:
Catalyst 6k:
The configuration can be quite complicated for these models, depending on the code you are running on the Cat6k. Available options are CATOS, hybrid, and native mode, all with different features and capabilities. There are also different versions of Netflow Export if the export is coming from the SP or from the RP (slow path/fast path).
Model 12000:
Basically all _software based_ Cisco devices with Cisco IOS software (most smaller routers) may be able to support Netflow Export V5 with IOS Version 11.1CA or later. Important: Not everything which is configurable under the IOS is supported and tested by Cisco!
The devices Cisco 800, 1700, 2600, 3600,3700,6400,7200,7300,7500 support NetFlow V9 with IOS Versions 12.3(1),12.0(24)S,12.2(18)S, 12.3(2)T. Have a close look at the release notes for details.
Also, remember that when the Netflow Export is processed by the software you should expect some CPU load impact and you should carefully watch the CPU load of your device!
